Plan B

Plan A is doing what we are "supposed" to be doing. The grown-up kind. Balancing the checkbook, washing the windows, cleaning the mess in the basement, etc. etc. etc. Plan B is enjoying this beautiful spring weather like a kid .What do you suppose we did? *****************************************************************************************
Eating lunch on the patio at Billy's on Grand with Princess Sophie.
Enjoying our backyard flowers.
Planting a "salad" garden.
Watching Twin's baseball at Target Field until the stars come out.
Taking a spin in a kayak at Lake Nokomis.
Talking bells and whistles with the Kayak Reps in Minneapolis.

We're Expecting........

Spring has sprung. Love is in the air. It's been a long time since we had a newborn to look after.

But we are welcoming someone brand new and tiny to our home. Soon.

And we can't wait!

Stay tuned....

Easter Funday

We had a wonderful Easter at my Dad's and Twylla's with the family. We ate (and ate) delicious ham, cheesy potatoes, corn, lemon jello, bubble bread, vegie pizza, cherry delight, and cupcakes! All the traditional favorites from years past. Afterward, we played cribbage, flew kites, colored pictures, played ball, tossed Frisbees, or just digested!
After dinner, the kids had to earn their baskets by traipsing all over the 5 acres. Due to a particularly evil clever hiding crew consisting of Grandpa Dick, Hannah, James and I, the kids needed to play 'Hot-Cold' to find them.

When I asked Max to let me take his picture...this is how he posed. The froggy boots are his fave, but his hat and the bunny butt on the back of the sweater rank right up there.

With some prompting, Max turns around and shows off his Easter finery. The sweater was originally Sarah's from 30 years ago.

A little horse petting before dinner.

"come here horsey"

The Audette's smile for the camera. (Nate is 10 1/2, Jake almost 7, and Max is 3 years old.)

The promise of Easter baskets from Grandma gets cooperation from the littles.

The Murray's pose primly with their hands folded in their laps.(Sophie is 4 1/2 and Luke is nearly 7.)

The kids are oblivious to Sophie's bag hanging in the fork of the tree.

Sophie is the first to spot her bag, but needs a little help to get it down!

Jake's satchel was found under some dried leaves at the base of a trellis. (Words to the wise form Uncle Mike- don't say "satchel" at school...)

Luke finds his Easter Goodies hidden in tree stumps in the woods.

Max finds his in the window well by the porch, thanks to a little help from his friend. Thanks Caitlin!

Nathan's Easter treats were hidden deep within a 6 foot tall arborvitae. He was the last to find it. (That darn Grandpa Dick!)

I'm (Almost) Famous Too!

I was so distracted by the kids picture in Bulletin Board, I almost missed my own entry printed today!

Writes Grandma Jody:

"Due to the continuing "Great Recession", I have been pinching pennies where I can. One of these measures was to change my laundry detergent from my first choice for the past 37 years to another, cheaper brand. I hadn't noticed the difference when I washed clothes, but when I washed my bedding the other day, I noticed an unpleasant odor. Unfortunately for me I had washed everything including my 2 down pillows. Grandpa Bob didn't notice anything different. I, on the other hand, was driven to distraction by the new smell and spent the last 2 nights tossing and turning.Today, four-year-old Sophie came for the day. As she lie down for her nap, her little head popped right back up off the pillow.
"Grandma", she whispered, "smell my pillow."
She paused as she wrinkled her nose with disgust.
"It smells like............cat pee!"

I am vindicated! Gotta go. I'm off to rewash the bedding in my new, "old" detergent."'

They're (Almost) Famous

Today's issue of the St. Paul Pioneer Press printed my submission to Bulletin Board.

"Writes Grandma Jody: Just Wow!

I don't know if you have a "What was I Thinking" category, but this should be in it! I have no idea what possessed me to dress my 4 daughters, including the College co-ed and the High School Sophomore in matching dresses for Easter. And I don't know WHY they let me!"

*********************************************************************************

My kids are mad at me. I have heard from all 3 girls (in the U.S.) already this morning. Words of anger and threats of not talking to me on Easter have been heard. Unfortunately, it seems they had already been called by friends from High School and warned about the picture in the paper. Oh well, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission!
