We went hiking on a small path that meandered beside a rippling stream. At times the path was very narrow and high, and we had to scramble over tree roots and climb over fallen trees in places!
Part of the path was a boardwalk over mudslides. The kids were very excited to see that part. Luke said," Hey, it looks like a cribbage board for 16 people!" LOL You can tell they just spent a week at the cabin with Great-grandpa Dick.
We stopped for a picnic lunch where the stream entered the river. It was nice and peaceful- not another soul in sight. Luke "planted" trees from his cherry pits for future generations.
Big excitement as a tug pushed a barge down the river! Bigger excitement when Luke spotted a fish just offshore, and when Grandpa taught them how to skip stones!
Did you guess yet? Final clue. Down 100+ steep steps we arrived at.....
Minnehaha Falls!
