high tech low tech
Happy Mothers Day! This has been a very busy week. I went to my doctor, a surgeon, had xrays and an MRI and found out ta da I have a torn rotator cuff. AGAIN. I knew this without any tests. I haven't been able to move my arm above shoulder height since February. Anyway, I start therapy this week to see if I can stabilize the shoulder without surgery.
Sophie was a little under the weather on Friday when her and Luke came over. She wanted a little love and bestowed a little love on her "baby". We took them to the playground but all she wanted was me or Gramps to swing with her. Luke, on the other hand, was very adventurous, and climbed to the top of the fort and went down the big curly slide by himself.
After naps, we took them to Jake's big "oh four" birthday party. Jake was SUPEREXCITED! and loved all the attention. If possible, he was even more smiley than usual. We had hotdogs on the fire and made s'mores for dessert. Just for the record, Jeff is King of the S'mores and Maddy sucks. Uncle Dale played Elefun with the kids and when I left was he was carrying Sophie around - who had regressed into her previous mood.
Today was Mother's Day. Bob bought me carnations and not to be outdone, Zach bought me TWO dozen red and yellow roses! Hannah and Molly texted me. Emily emailed and tried to reach me on chat. Da Boyz gave me a balloon bouquet and I received a sparkly card signed by Sophie and Luke. Both high tech and low tech presents pleased me very much. I am happy I was able to spend the evening with my mom in the nursing home. Happy Mother's Day to all you "muthas". You know who you are...

Saturday with DA BOYZ
Today was a very busy Saturday. We went to Nate's baseball tourney in North St. Paul. He is with the Angels this year. (2nd,3rd and 4th graders) During practice he was fooling around, missing balls, and being kind of lazy. As soon as play started, he was a ball of fire, slugging the ball during his "ups" and catching and tagging out during his turn at first base. He even stole 3rd base! Cousins Arman and Elin and brothers Jake and Max were there to support, although the baby never got to peek his little head outside because of the blustery wind.
We hustled home from the game to take pics of Zach and Carolynne going to Como Park H.S. prom. They looked pretty darn good if you ask me. First they went to visit Grandma Kippels who thought they got married! Zach told her it was only the prom, but the way she said "congratulations" when they left leaves him waiting for the blender to arrive. They next visited Grandma Carol in rehab who was happy to see them-it brightened her day.
Molly and Jeff dropped off Nate for an overnight on their way to the Twins' game. I bought him a pair of Heelys (shoe skates) that he had been asking me for, and he put them on to visit Grandma Carol. (at least there were nurses around if he broke his neck) Uncle Dale bought him a bottle of pop out of the vending machine, we tried to put a few pieces in the community puzzle, we visited the birds in the aviary, and oh yeah, we visited with Grandma. On the way back to the house, we stopped at Creamy Cone for a treat. Grandpa is in the backyard with him right now trying to wear him out a little before bed. Good luck with that...
